Building our Home (The basement)

A little background: 5 years ago we decided that eventually we'd build a house on a plot of land that we bought from Jeff's parents.  We put our septic system in that summer and it's sat there since.  The lot is just over an acre and behind it is a wetlands area that Jeff's parents own.  Right beside our lot is a log house where Jeff's brother, sister-in-law, and their kids live.  We had about about 4 ft. of fill dirt hauled in in the few dry weeks we had in the summer of 2011.

This is our lot with our house stakes on it this August. We were all ready to go... just waiting on the contractors.

Wed. Oct. 3rd: Von Sossan's finally started to dig the basement.

Another picture with Mark's garden in view.

Our whole lot with the corner of our barn that Mark and Jeff built this summer.

Thursday the 4th: Ready to pour the footer.

Jeff and the kids walked down the steps they cut in the dirt to get a closer look.
