After church one Sunday, we tried to get a good photo of Jack and Maria since they were both dressed up. Jack went from being at the smiling good stage to the "let's act everything out" stage. For example if you said "Say Pickles" to try and get a picture, he felt the need to stand up and shout pickles and therefore making it really hard to get a decent picture.
Here's a decent one that was towards the end of our attempts. We weren't huge on the blue sheets after we took the pictures off of the camera. We probably should have gone with white...noted for next time.
It's been cool enough out that we've been inside a lot. Maria really likes many of Jack's toys...including the forklift. She even makes an "rrrrrrr" sound like she's driving when she drives any of the vehicles that we have. It's really fun to watch her discover things. So far, she's left the Christmas tree alone so that's been good!
Storytime with Dad. Jack loves having stories read to him and does a good job of sitting still. Maria, on the other hand, wants to grab at the book and chew and/or look at the book
Jack got to see Santa Claus at the library. He was pretty quiet and didn't tell Santa what he wanted, but did ask him where his workshop was. He went to storytime this fall and one of the extra things they advertised was Breakfast with Santa. I signed him up and him and Jeff went. His buddy, Eli, and his Mom were there too.
Jack and Eli are buddies at storytime, though they are both three and pretty quiet so they don't really say much to each other. Yet, Jack talks about Eli a lot and apparently Eli talks about Jack a lot. Eli's mom, Kristin, and I asked the librarian one day if Jack and Eli did much while they are downstairs at storytime. Apparently they sit by each other and they sit in the back and don't say or do a whole lot. The funny thing is that Jack (and apparently Eli does the same thing) will talk about the stories and songs they sang on the way home each time. Jack also loves telling Jeff what he did at storytime!
My grandmother, Dorothy, turned 90 on December 9th and we celebrated with a party for her on December 10th!
She is still doing pretty good!
After the birthday party, Holly and I took Natalie out to eat since it was her birthday! It's hard to believe she's 17 already! I clearly remember Mom telling us that she was expecting #6 and JJ coming into my room after Natalie had been born and telling me that I had a sister. "Yeah, I know" was my half asleep response (immediately thinking Holly). Then it was "OH!" Back to present day: it was nice going out to eat with just my sisters and chatting with no kiddos around! This is a picture of Maria climbing the stairs. This is one of her new favorite things to do. The door to the upstairs in our house is usually closed, but if it's open and she notices, she is up the stairs in no time!
After eating, I came back to Mom and Dad's house while Holly and Natalie (and my Dad) headed out to the basketball game. Jake is coaching the JV boys team this year. Holly left her kids with us and so we all helped my Mom make some more Christmas cookies. It was chaotic, but fun!
The girls and I
Jack liked helping Grandma cut out cookies. All of the bigger kids: Jesse, Samantha, and Jack got to take a turn.
This last picture is Jesse and his creation we affectionately called a "Snowmelt". We were starting to frost cookies and Jesse started with a snowman. This said snowman was covered with frosting and then loaded with green sprinkles! Gotta love cookie frosting with kids and seeing what they come up with!
